A giant screen runs through Bogotá to take the cinema to the balconies

A gigantic screen has traveled all this week through the neighborhoods of Bogotá to take the cinema to the balconies, where the citizens, surprised and grateful, settle in the late afternoon to watch movies, in the midst of the quarantine by COVID-19 As if they were in a movie theater.

The beneficiaries of this Friday were the inhabitants of the Gran Granada neighborhood, in the northwest of the city, where "Route 90 from the balconies" of the Cine Colombia company, the largest in its sector in the country, arrived with the version of 2019 of the classic "The Lion King".

From early on, the workers of the company, together with the Police, began to install a screen seven meters high and nine wide on which the children's film was shown moments later.

The residents of the sector began to go out on their balconies and, once the film began, they applauded the creative initiative of Cine Colombia, which took them out of the routine they had become accustomed to since March 25 when the quarantine began.

However, today that initiative was reversed and is being taken to those people in Bogotá who, due to the quarantine, have not been able to return to the cinemas, which have been closed since last month.

"Today we start the 'Ruta 90 from the balconies' project. We will start free film screenings so that from the balconies of the residential complexes in Bogotá, families can enjoy a pleasant movie," said the president of Cine Colombia, Munir Falah, on their social networks.

Today, on the fourth day of screenings, people appreciated the initiative and even put up posters sending messages like one saying "Stay home."

"It is interesting, it takes out of the routine and, in the middle of everything, it shows the union between people and a company like Cine Colombia and the Police," says Patricia, a woman who went out on the balcony with her two daughters to enjoy. of the family movie.

Some curious onlookers also came to the area where the film was screened, who skipped the quarantine and sat on a pasture to watch the film, while others who appeared in their cars, also parked in strategic positions in order to be able to watch the film. enjoy "The Lion King".

During the day, the policemen also cheered the citizens who came out onto the balconies with music, who responded with applause, cheerful shouts and even dances, with which they broke the routine to which they are subjected by the quarantine.

"The 'Route 90 from the balconies' has couples dancing from their balconies. It is the small actions that contribute to improving mood," Falah concluded.
