It was 1936, the fateful year in which the Spanish Civil War broke out, when Prudencio Unanue, a native of Burgos born in the small town of Villasana de Mena, founded the company Unanue & Sons in a warehouse in Manhattan, New York. That was the germ of what is now a successful multinational in the food sector, whose name is 'Goya Foods'.

Unanue was a visionary and began to look towards the gastronomic tastes of Latino immigrants in the United States, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Colombians, Mexicans, who flocked to the land of opportunity. It was around this time that Prudencio bought the 'Goya' trademark for one dollar, as a tribute to the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya.

What began little by little, selling typical Spanish products, such as olives, oil, sardines... to the few families of Hispanic emigrants of the time, is now present not only in various parts of the United States, but also in Asia, Africa and Latin America, where it is a benchmark, and also in the Old Continent.

This is how 'Goya Europe' was born, which, based in Madrid, manages the sale and distribution of products in the old continent, where it also has a delegation in Seville, with its green gold such as olive oil, the variety of olives and capers.

These are the credentials with which this giant of the food sector will present itself at the 2022 Food Fair, which will be held between April 4 and 7 in Barcelona. In this international event of reference for all professionals in the food industry, the executive chef of 'Goya', Fernando Desa, will carry out several show cooking made with products of the brand during the three days that the event lasts, offering tastings of their preparations .

In the 'Goya' catalog you can find quality products that are difficult to locate outside their countries of origin, product lines demanded by new customers who like their culinary and family traditions. Among them, coconut water, flour, grains and beans with a great variety of sizes and colors stand out, as well as exotic and tropical fruit pulps or specific products demanded by the Venezuelan, Colombian, Peruvian, Mexican and Central American communities.

This, without forgetting the products that today have a great presence in Europe and that have been adapted to home kitchens and gastronomy professionals where 'Goya' products no longer go unnoticed. In this way, the company offers more than 2,500 references of the best quality and its catalog is constantly developing new flavors, with a family of Mexican products, frozen, refrigerated, spices and seasonings, preserves, cookies, chocolates and sweets, beverages , soft drinks, beers, infusions, nuts...

Product that, in addition to being an ally in the kitchen and with many nutritional properties, is gluten-free and recommended for celiacs.
