A fire destroys a three Michelin star restaurant in Germany

The Schwarzwaldstube restaurant, a three Michelin stars located in southwestern Germany, has been completely destroyed by a fire during the early hours of Sunday, firefighters said.

The restaurant, located in the town of Baiersbron, is considered an institution in the Black Forest region.

The fire also affected the Hotel Traube Tonnbach, of which it is a part, and of which 63 guests had to be evacuated by the smoke.

The fire was detected at 3:20 and five hours later about 150 firefighters were still in full fight against the flames.

"It is a blow to the Black Forest," said a local spokesman.

The 2020 edition of the Gault & Millau restaurant guide gives the restaurant chef, Torsten Michel, 19.5 points out of 20 possible.
