A child with Autism Spectrum Disorder is expelled from a Torrejn camp – La Provincia

The City Council of Torrejón de Ardoz has opened an information file to investigate whether there was negligence on the part of the municipal technicians in the alleged expulsion of a six-year-old child with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) of the Municipal Sports School.

According to municipal sources explained to Europa Press, on Wednesday the mayor of the town, Ignacio Vázquez, has met with the child's parents to study the situation, apologize and propose an alternative leisure to the child during the summer, to which will be incorporated this Thursday.

The parents of the minor have indicated this morning in an interview on Telemadrid, collected by Europa Press, that they were called from the camp to warn them that they could not meet the special needs of the child and that they could not have a personalized monitor.

In a statement, the City Council noted that "at all times" it is intended that all children can join the activity and that, among the 128 children involved, there are three with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), a girl with a delayed maturation, another with visual disability and another child with ASD.

"This activity is focused on children between 7 and 14 years old as a physical activity as the name suggests and no one is discriminated against for enrollment, beyond the skills and abilities necessary to carry out activities," concluded the Consistory .
