A woman of Palafrugell (Girona) 84 years old has died in the Hospital of Palamós (Girona) after waiting seven hours in the emergency room without being attended after going through a picture of colic and vomiting.

In a statement, the hospital has indicated that "the waiting time was higher than normal," and during the hours he was in the emergency room, he should have undergone a new medical evaluation to check his condition.

The clinic explains that the patient was treated at 15.25 hours and was correctly classified at a level three, which entails multiple explorations and physiological stability.

"That day, and in that time slot, the service was in a situation of maximum influx of patients, and there was more with the same level of urgency," the hospital has argued, which will review the internal circuit that was followed so that it does not again produce situations like this.

The family of the deceased has criticized that the old woman was "abandoned like a dog", waiting to be attended while her daughter asked several times when the doctor would pass.

After what happened, they want to report to the hospital and have already contacted a lawyer: "Where we can go, we will come in. It will not work for her, but for others," they said.

The emergency director of the hospital has contacted the family to give "the relevant explanations" and the center has conveyed its condolences.
