97% of dancers and actors, in poverty after the coronavirus pandemic


97% of Spanish actors and dancers have placed their income from artistic activities “below the poverty line” to root of the coronavirus pandemic, as revealed by the Aisge survey (Artistas Interpretes Sociedad de Gestión) among more than 3,000 members.

The Aisge Foundation rconducted these interviews between the months of July and October 2020. The participants, weighted by age, sex, previous income and geographic location, represent 28% of the members of the artists entity. “The coronavirus crisis has particularly struck the group of audiovisual artists (actors and dancers) during 2020, a year in which, paradoxically, digital platforms such as Netflix, HBO, Movistar or Amazon Prime Video have experienced exponential growth” , lamented the association.
