327 new cases of covid-19 in people over 60 years of age in the Canary Islands

The Canary archipelago has recorded
14 deaths from covid Since last Tuesday
seven of them notified in Gran Canaria; four in Tenerife; two in La Palma and one in Fuerteventura. The deceased persons were between the ages of 56 and 97, except for one 46-year-old person; all suffered from previous pathologies and were hospitalized, according to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The islands have also reported
327 new positives in covid-19 among people over 60 years of agewhich is the population group that is monitored after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.

Therefore,
the cumulative number of coronavirus cases among this group it rises in the Canary Islands to
95,639 people. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 271.34 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 122.14.

Healthcare capacity

The Ministry of Health informs that since last August 12, and in compliance with the Resolution of August 5 of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, in the calculation of beds occupied by patients with covid-19, it is taken into account the number of beds occupied by patients with pneumonia or acute respiratory infection or another pathology that is considered to be attributable to a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
