A total of 248 people died in traffic accidents in Spain in the first four months of this year, 79 fewer than in the same period of 2019, due to the decrease registered in March and April, when mobility restrictions were applied by the state of alarm before the coronavirus pandemic.
April closed with 30 deaths on Spanish roads, 44 fewer than in the same month last year. Already in March, in whose second fortnight the circulation restrictions decreed by the state of alarm began to be applied, 53 deaths were registered, 45 fewer than in the same period of 2019.
During the Puente del Primero de Mayo, between three in the afternoon on Thursday and twelve at night on Sunday, only one death was recorded on Spanish roads, specifically on Saturday, as a result of the departure of a tourism on a conventional road.
In this way, in the annual accumulated until May 3, 249 deaths have been recorded on Spanish roads.
