10 plans to do in the Canary Islands this weekend
Carnival remains the central theme to enjoy a great night. This Friday, March 18 at 9:00 p.m., the celebration of the Drag Queen Gala is scheduled on the stage of Parque Santa Catalina. This is one of the most anticipated galas of the entire carnival period.
Despite this, other activities are also planned that you can do to enjoy these days of rest. As every week we show you some plans that can be carried out in the Canary Islands from today until Sunday.

Gran Canaria: «Altarpiece» (Theater)
«Altarpiece» is a proposal broasted in the altarpiece of greed, lust and death of Valle Inclán, that addresses the darkest aspects of the human being and where human actions succumb to powerful forces such as love, witchcraft or magic, in an environment of superstition and Christian tradition.
It can be enjoyed this Friday and tomorrow Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Sala Insular de Teatro in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Tenerife: «Behind the horizon line» (Exhibition)
In Tenerife you can visit the exhibition “Behind the horizon line”. This retrospective, co-produced by TEA and the Center for Contemporary Creation of Andalusia C3A, addresses Adnan's extensive creative activity and formal experimentation through fifty of his works (paintings, drawings, leporellos, ceramics, textiles and films in super 8). In addition to this, it should be noted that this exhibition -curated by Álvaro R. Fominaya together with the TEA team- includes a video installation by the artistic collective The Otolith Group. Ethel Adnan.
The inauguration will be
on the 18th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes. Admission is free and it will be open from Tuesday to Friday, from 12:00 to 20:00.and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Lanzarote: «Maidan» (Film projection)
Solidarity screening of the documentary «Maidan», by Sergei Loznitsa (Ukraine, 2014) organized by the Tenique Cultural Association with the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, HiVision, Tecnosound, EcoEntradas, Bruto. The entrance costs 5 euros, and the
money raised in this session will go to UNHCR to help Ukrainian refugees fleeing war. (If you wish, you can make a larger contribution with the purchase of the ticket or, if you cannot attend, make a donation).

Fuerteventura: "The island as origin and destination" (Exhibition)
Juan Gopar (Lanzarote, 1958) has been building a multidisciplinary work, which goes beyond the watertight compartments of the disciplines, and which involves painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, bookmaking and installation. A personal language full of memory and experience. A work full of meaning and also of love and sensitivity towards the place where he was born and whose deep essence he has made an effort to underline and preserve.
This free sample will be

La Gomera: «O Matter | XVII Festival of Religious Music of the Canary Islands» (Concert)
The XVII edition of the Canary Islands Religious Music Festival arrives on the island of La Gomera
next Sunday, March 20. The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, in San Sebastián, will host the concert O Matter, in which the mezzo-soprano Anna Tobella and the composer and guitarist Eugeni Muriel will offer a recital of a very varied style and genre of works. As well as the compositions that are part of it, addressing from the Spanish Renaissance to the present day.

The ADOC association and Encounters with the Author pay homage to Tomás Morales as part of the centenary of his death. Different writers from the islands will recite poems by the author and their own, taking a journey through the life and work of the Canarian author. Tenerife: "Maud, C'est La Vie!" (Exposition)
Madeleine Annette Bonneaud (Limoges, 1921-Madrid, 1991), known as Maud Bonneaud and Maud Westerdah, was a French surrealist multidisciplinary artist who excelled in the discipline of enamel.
Founder, together with the sculptor María Belén Morales, of the first group of women artists in the Canary Islands, Las Doce. She is considered a key artist in the history of art in the Canary Islands.
With his arrival in Tenerife another new chapter in his life begins in which the living room of his house, his way of doing things and relating to others ended up foreshadowing the idea of a collective institution in Tenerife and
a particular vision of modernity. This is the first retrospective exhibition dedicated to her figure as an artist and cultural agitator in order to unravel her enormous complexity and weight overshadowed by previous visions in which she was always understood as "wife of" and not as a fundamental piece of doing and happening cultural.

If you are interested in modern art, we invite you to go to the Atlantic Center for Modern Art, located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There you can enjoy the exhibition "Human all too human",
an exhibition by Iranian artist Arita Shahrzad. Human, All Too Human is a sculptural project with architectural, philosophical and poetic resonances, made up of works created in Iran.
The exhibition shows the result of the research work carried out in recent years by Shahrzad, with the collaboration of artists, architects and artisans from his country, who have managed to interpret his proposals through current technology and an intellectual dialogue that goes beyond beyond the starting positions of each.
