A superior Valencia was not able to win (1-1) a defensive Valladolid, who took advantage of his only goal option of the whole match to score a point in a clash in the local domain was accompanied by the usual mistake of the Valencian against the rival goal of this season.
On this occasion, the ill-fated performance of the team of Marcelino García Toral in attack was moved to the penalty spot, since Rodrigo did not hit in the second half in a shot from the eleven meters with the score to zero.
It was Valencia who took control of the ball in the early stages of the game and theirs were the first chances to open the scoring through Soler first and Rodrigo later, but without luck in both cases.
As the match progressed, Marcelino's team maintained its dominance and a certain danger before the goal of a Valladolid more focused on defending and waiting for a failure of the rival with which to disturb the goal of Neto.
Reached the half hour of game the local set maintained its control of the game but it had lost effervescence in attack until the point of which Masip hardly saw restless until the last measures of this first time.
Thus, Cheryshev missed six minutes of the break which was undoubtedly the best chance of the Valencians to fail with everything in favor and Masip beaten after a pass from Soler.
After the break, the match continued with the same script. Valencia looked for the opposite goal and in its attempt came a penalty with which to advance, but the ill-fated local offensive streak of the season lasted until the launch of the maximum penalty, as Masip rejected the launch of Rodrigo (m. 55).
Despite failing to take advantage of the penalty, Valencia did not sink and continued to seek the goal of the Valladolid team, but continued to miss unbeatable chances, as Santi Mina did in the 68th minute, when he only had to push it into the area small and the ball escaped.
But the insistence of the Valencia had reward shortly after. Parejo received a pass from Soler and shot Masip from inside the area with a ball that slipped through the squad.
Only after the goal did Valladolid wake up slightly, but enough to equal the game with nine minutes to go thanks to a direct free-kick in the 82nd minute, in his first shot with danger from the game to Neto's goal.
In the end, Valencia turned in search of the goal that gave him the victory, but, once again, Mestalla was left without seeing a win for his team.
